The end of the year social was a great success. The event was held on a Friday afternoon at Captain Steve Preator’s house, intelligently decorated with global artifacts and memorabilia. The backyard area was comfortable and the swimming pool provided much appreciated asylum from the scorching heat.
In an interesting development, the biannual Kangaroo Court, at which teammates take turns berating each other for faults, follies, and generally disagreeable personality traits, lasted a record three and a half hours. All those convicted of the charge of Missing In Action or Dissertion were sentenced to death by water balloon firing squad.
After some emotional dribble, and a few keg stands, the end of the season awards were handed out. Jan Bartscht won MVP, Ian Schiller took home Best Back, while Reid Drossos was well deserving of the Best Forward award. The most honorable award, Man of the Club, was presented to Patrick Stills for his unwavering dedication, support and promotion of Thunderbird Rugby.
The event concluded with the traditional awarding of game jerseys to departing graduates and the distribution of Thunderbird Rugby Team Gearbags. Finally, the new leadership team was inaugurated and charge with leading the club into a bright and prosperous future.
